Before you update

Download and install the update

The Sony Reader™ must be fully charged before installing this update. Failure to fully charge the Sony Reader™ before installing the firmware update may cause the Reader™ to be unresponsive or to require repair

  1. Within the Reader for MAC software, click the Help menu command
  2. At the Help menu, click Check for Updates
  3. Click OK to download the update

  1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding
  2. Please confirm again that your model is PRS-T3before you start the download
  3. Download the PRS-T3Updater.dmg file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference)
    Please check if the file has been downloaded correctly without any damage: Right-click your mouse after placing the mouse cursor over the file, and then click Propertiesin the menu.Click the digital signature tag and check if the name of signer shows correctly Sony Corporation
  4. Connect the Reader™ to the computer with the supplied USB cable
  5. Wait until the USB connected screen is displayed on the Reader™, and then tap Yes
  6. If the Reader for MAC software starts, close Reader for MAC before continuing
  7. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click PRS-T3Updater.dmg file to begin the installation
    Warning: Do not disconnect the Reader™ during the update process
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation
    Note: The Reader™ will automatically restart during the update process
  9. After the software update is complete, an Update Completed message is displayed
  10. Click the X to close the update utility

After the Reader™ restarts, and the Reader™ displays an update complete message, the installation of the Reader™ Update is complete.

Check if the firmware update completed successfully:

  1. On the Reader™, press the Home button
  2. At the Home screen, tap >, and then tapSettings
  3. At the Settings screen, tap About, and then tap Device Information
  4. At the Device Information screen, Version 1.1.01.17210 should be displayed
